About the Sripuram Golden Temple
Vellore is known for the famous Sripuram Golden Temple, an abode of Sri Mahalakshmi. Located around 134 KM from Tirupati in Tamil Nadu, the temple was constructed in 2007 and is called the Golden Temple because its exterior is covered with gold plates. Set on 100 acres beside a small green hill, the temple opens at 4 AM and closes at 8 PM. There is no strict dress code, but shorts, lungis and Bermudas are not allowed, and photography inside is prohibited.
